Apple has quietly released a new version of the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro, adding Force Touch to the device (introduced to the 13-inch MacBook last month). Force Touch can detect the pressure applied on the pad, thus allow for unique input via a secondary, deeper click, and the classic “taptic” feedback. Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said the following: According to the information on Apple’s website, the laptop is shipping within a day for a starting price of $1,999. Besides the Force Touch trackpad, it now comes with faster flash storage (PCIe-based which provides up to 2.5 times the performance of its predecessor), longer battery life (up to an additional hour) and the choice to add an AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics chip (said to be“up to 80 percent faster” than the NVIDIA chip in the previous generation). As a downside, though, the refreshed laptop still uses Intel’s Haswell chipset and not the updated Broadwell architecture. Apple also dropped the price on its 5K iMac by introducing a new option that starts at $1999 (INR 159,900 for the Indian market) for a 3.3GHz processor. You should also take into account that it doesn’t have one of Apple’s hybrid Fusion drives as it uses a standard 1TB drive. Apple also lowered the cost of its high-end model down to $2,299.
