The first and foremost thing you should know about the new Pro x2 is that it is MIL-STD 810G rated for drops, dust, humidity, temperature changes and functional shock. Secondly, it comes with a 165-degree kickstand and an active Wacom stylus for sketching and note-taking purposes. Furthermore, the PC-maker has bundled a series of security add-ons as they’re mainly targeting the enterprise users. Security features include HP BIOSphere, HP Sure Start Gen3, HP Client Security Gen3, HP Secure Erase, Preboot Authentication, Absolute Persistence Module, Drive Encryption, and a whole lot more. The last stand-out addition that might attract consumers is the fact that you can remove the SSD if the laptop is heading for servicing, and the kickstand too is user-replaceable in, case it gets damaged.
As far as specifications are concerned, the top end model is powered by Intel Core i7 (7Y75) CPU with Intel Graphics 615, a 12-inch full-HD touchscreen, 8GB RAM, up to a 512GB M.2 SSD and LTE connectivity. Furthermore, there’s a fingerprint reader (optional), and in terms of connectivity, it rocks a USB 3.1 Type-C, 1x USB 3.0, microSD card slot, and a headphone jack. The camera arrangement includes an 8MP rear-facing lens with a single-LED flash and a front-facing 5MP 1080p webcam. It has an all-aluminium build, and you can remove the keyboard entirely to use it as a standalone tablet. As you would expect, the HP Pro x2 is not cheap and starts at $979. HP will be also selling a wide range of accessories such as a rugged case for field work, charging docks, travel hub with enhanced connectivity and scanning or mobile retail accessories.
