The Chinese startup rose to fame with their Windows 10 look alike adaptation of Android for laptops and tablets that enables power users to use their hardware fruitfully without compromising on the vast array of apps available on the Playstore. This however isn’t the first time Jide is introducing a hardware of their own. In fact, they had initially launched a Remix Ultra 2-in-1 tablet last year and the all new Remix Pro is a successor of the same. The second gen tablet has many an improvement especially in the hardware divisions and runs on the new Remix OS 3.0 software based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.
The Remix Pro sports a 12 inch QHD (2160x1440p) IPS display upfront and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa core SoC. Besides, the tablet features 3GB LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB eMMC storage and microSD slot with support for cards upto 256GB. In terms of camera, the Remix Pro comes with a decent set of 8MP rear and a 5MP front cameras. Interestingly, the Remix Pro 2-in-1 tablet is markedly slim at just 6.85mm despite housing a large 9000mAh battery under the hood. It’s worth noting that the tablet comes with support for Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11ac.
Jide’s Remix Pro tablet however misses out on a kickstand and comes with a keyboard cover instead. The keyboard accessory that comes with a metallic finish to the top enable users to use the tablet like any other desktop simply by docking it in using the pogo pin connector. Apart from the Remix Pro 2-in-1 tablet, Jide also unveiled their AOC Mars all-in-one PC and the second gen Remix OS PC Box at the event. The AIO PCs from AOC now come in 22-inch and 32-inch options in addition to the 24-inch one. The PC Box on the other hand is still in development with the initial platform built on an improved Rockchip RK3368 octa core processor clubbed with 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC internal memory. Speaking of ports, the Remix OS PC Box comes with two USB, one Ethernet and one HDMI 2.0 port.
Jide has also announced that have partnered with Acer to launch a limited edition 11.6 inch notebook powered by their very own Remix OS 3.0. Sadly, though, the tablet is expected to be a China exclusive model with no plans to bring it to foreign market. With Jide tying up with more and more hardware manufacturers we may soon end up seeing a new category of Remix OS powered devices in the laptop market.
