The introduction of the new Obsidian Black Edition isn’t quite surprising though, as last year itself, in light of the new iPhone 6S launch, we had seen Samsung and Sony launch Rose Gold variants of their flagship Note 5 and Xperia Z smartphones respectively. That said, the Jet Black variant of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus can’t be termed revolutionary as we have seen some Android phones being launched with this color even before. Rather Sony had been following this glass back design in their Xperia series devices for quite some time. Subsequently other Chinese manufacturers like Gionee, Xiaomi drew inspiration from the same to launch similarly design smartphones, but then, none of them tried it with Aluminum.
Coming back to the Vivo X7 Obsidian Black Edition, the smartphone sports similar internals as seen in the originally launched device. Precisely speaking it sports a 5.2-inch FHD Super AMOLED panel upfront and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa core chip on the inside. This is clubbed with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Talking of cameras, the Vivo X7 features a front 16MP selfie snapper and a 13MP rear shooter. The gorgeous looking smartphone packs a modestly large 3000mAH battery equipped with Fast Charging on the inside and comes with support for dual SIM. In addition to the Obsidian Black Edition, the Vivo X7 is available in four other colours including the Gold, Silver, Rose Gold, Sky Grey and is priced at 2798 Yuan (Rs 28,081/$420 approx.) The Limited edition version of the smartphone will go on sale in China starting September 26.
