Ever since last year, Xiaomi has started launching multiple smartphones in short interval of time. Previously, the Chinese OEM used to unveil only a handful of devices in yearly cycles. However, increasing competition in both homeland and abroad has forced the OEM to follow a different strategy. Thus, it isn’t a surprise to see the company working on the Redmi Note 5 in such a short span of time. The leaked specs on Weibo indicate that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be a slightly upgraded version of the recently launched Note 5A. That said, it would be interesting to see how Xiaomi price the phablet. For those unaware, Xiaomi Mi 5X sells in China at a price of 1,299 Yuan and the company wouldn’t definitely like its upcoming Note 5 to compete with the same. Naturally, we can expect the company to price it either below or slightly above the Xiaomi Mi 5X.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Specifications
As per the leak, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display and a 16nm Mediatek Helio P25 octa-core processor. The Helio chip consists of eight Cortex A53 cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz. The Redmi Note 5 is said to come in two variants. One would come with 3GB RAM/32GB storage and other with 4GB RAM/64GB storage. Additionally, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will come with a 12MP front and a 16MP + 5MP dual rear camera. The phablet will also come with a 4,000mAH battery and a USB Type C port. It is expected to run on Android Nougat 7.1 with MIUI 9 on top.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Price
The Weibo post also reveals that the lower end Redmi Note 4 with 3GB RAM would be priced at 999 Yuan. The top end version, on the other hand, will sit in between the 1299 Yuan Xiaomi Mi 5X and 1699 Yuan Meizu Note 6. As always, we can expect Xiaomi to bring the Snapdragon variant instead of Mediatek when it launches the Redmi Note 5 in India. With a plethora of Snapdragon 625 devices launched by the company, we hope they upgrade it to Snapdragon 630 at least when they launch in India later this year or early next year.
