The company has expanded its IMAP support to include Gmail and Google Apps accounts thus enabling users to club in their email accounts within the app. Yahoo seems to have come up with this feature to attract more Google services users and tempt them to try out the Yahoo mail client. Until now Yahoo Mail used to support Outlook, AOL Mail and Hotmail, the Gmail was the only major one to be left out. While Gmail is leading the pack when it comes to E-mail Services, Yahoo is struggling to stay relevant. The company wants Yahoo to not just be a platform on which users will be able to stay in touch with their friends but also shape up as a database to store all the user related information. If you are boggled with the purpose of importing the database, Yahoo explains why you should be doing it. The import of the Gmail database means that the user will be able to leverage the Yahoo’s search capabilities and search the entire mailbox on any device. Yahoo’s contact service has also been improvised considerably in the recent past and the addition of account key will let you use the Yahoo account without an actual password. The catch here is that Yahoo wants to bring people to its platform and for this sole purpose, the platform is striving hard by bringing in new features and aspiring to be more of a cross platform Mail service. Till now folks without Yahoo accounts typically strayed away from their services and this is something Yahoo wants to address and bring about the necessary amends.
